Geometric Engineer
DBI Consulting Engineers is looking for a motivated engineer who is well-versed and adaptable in their profession. The person will be responsible for providing specific engineering services for SANRAL projects, such as design and construction monitoring. Candidates must be willing to travel between Centurion, Harrismith, and Cape Town (Paarl).
Project
Duties
- Assist clients with technical issues.
- Prepare and assess specialist geometric designs, technical reports, and cost estimates, as well as communicate with other professionals both internally and internationally.
- On specialized transportation (roads) projects, provide geometric guidance, advise, and control.
- Create and implement discipline-specific technical practices, processes, and specifications.
- Geometric Road Design (rural roads, interchanges, intersections, and roundabouts), Transport Planning, Traffic Flow Theory, Intelligent Transport Systems, Road Safety Engineering, Road Safety Audits, Transport Economics, Transport Planning Methodologies, Transport System Capacities, Public Transportation Systems, Non-Motorized Transportation, Contract Documentation and Administration of Road Contracts, and Project Management are some of the key performance and knowledge areas.
- Assist and facilitate the tendering and adjudication process leading up to contractor selection and site handover.
- Plan, organize, and oversee discipline-specific project design, procurement, and construction.
- Assist with technical design assessments for the Transport Engineering Department when needed.
- Assist with multi-disciplinary tenders and contribute to the drafting of tenders.
- Travel between Centurion, Harrismith, and Cape Town (Paarl) for the duration of the project.
Required
Experience
- Eng, BSc Eng or BTech degree .
- Professional Registration with ECSA as Pr.Eng or Pr Tech Eng will be advantageous
- Minimum 5 years’ experience.
- Prior experience includes geometric design of urban and rural roads and infrastructure, interchanges, intersections, traffic calming measures, road safety improvements, and modern roundabout design, railway alignments, non-motorized transportation (NMT) planning and implementation, universal access design, road signs and markings, transportation economic evaluations, highway capacity analysis, road safety audits, and contract documentation (FIDIC, GCC2010, COLTO, and SANS1200).
